The Robert Wiebe Story
I was born in New York City in the year of Our Lord nineteen hundred and twelve. My father was a successful businessman, and my mother came from a family of means. We lived in a comfortable home on the Upper West Side, and I had everything a young boy could want. Yet, even with all of this privilege, I still managed to get myself into a great deal of trouble.
As a child, I was constantly getting into fights and causing mischief. My parents tried their best to control me, but it seemed like nothing could stop me from acting out. I was expelled from several schools before finally finding my way at Military Academy. It was there that I began to turn my life around.
After graduating from the Academy, I enlisted in the Army and served my country during World War II. After the war ended, I returned home and attended college on the GI Bill. It was during my time in college that I met my wife, Martha.
We married shortly after graduation and started our family soon after that. We settled down in Connecticut and had three beautiful children together: Robert Jr., Susan, and Jennifer. Life was good for us; we had everything we could ever want or need… until tragedy struck.
In 1978, our son Robert Jr., died suddenly of an overdose at the age of twenty-one. It was devastating for all of us; especially for Martha who never recovered from his death. She passed away just six years later in 1984 at the age of fifty-six..”
